Mighty, Mighty Construction Site

Mighty, Mighty Construction Site

The children were recently sent a wonderful book to share, it’s taken me a while to remember to bring it down from the bedroom to photograph and review!

The book is by Sherri Duskey Rinker and is called Mighty, Mighty Construction Site. The book has the most beautiful illustrations by Tom Lichtenheld and it has fast become a firm favourite by us all here.

The story is a follow up to Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, and sees the reader meet all their favourite construction vehicles.

It is a story of team work, perseverance and friendship told through beautiful pictures and lovely gentle rhyming text. Both Mr D and Miss E love this book and it has been read regularly since it arrived with us. The children have had great fun following the diggers and trucks throughout the story and welcoming in the new vehicles as they help to complete the new job.

The illustrations are just gorgeous and very clever in how they create the faces for each of the vehicles. There is a really charming quality to the imagery used and it is perfect for follow on activities with the children, who have dug out the various diggers and truck we have to recreate the story. They set up two teams of vehicles, the original ones and the new team that come to assist with the job at hand.

All in all perfect for any child who is fascinated with trucks and diggers!

My 1yo would love this, he’s obsessed with diggers and tractors. I’ve been meaning to get hold of Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site, thanks for reminding me about it. #readwithme

I have seen this one a lot on instagram (mainly from US bloggers) and thought it looked good. BookBairn is fascinated with diggers at the moment so perhaps I should pick her up a copy! #readwithme
