A short time ago we were lucky enough to be sent two steam train, dream train books to review. (the review can be found here). The children both loved these two books and were thrilled when the team at Abrams & Chronicle sent through the Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site and original Steam Train, Dream Train books for us to review.
Both the children are fascinated with diggers and tractors and the such. Both directions leaving our house there have been (and continue to be) major development works taking place. Every time we pass the sites they tell me they can see diggers and tractors so it was no surprise that Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site has become a firm favourite with them both.
Like the Steam train, Dream train books, the illustrations are wonderful and the book had lots of detail in both the text and the pictures. The children are learning the names of the big machinery as well as the names of some of the parts.
The text is excellent and has a lovely gentle rhyme to it, which makes it wonderfully easy and fun to read. We all like ‘shhhhh’ing’ together as the various construction site machines head to bed and it’s lovely to see the children so engaged with the story.
Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site really is a firm favourite here and thankfully is a book that both Damian and I enjoy reading as much as the children enjoy listening to it, and one that I am sure we will be reading for many years to come!
