Daniel loves reading, and we have read some brilliant books. I thought I would share some of our favourite books for toddlers and babies.
Say Hello to the Animals – This is one of our favourite books and was a brilliant one for teaching Daniel the signs for various animals. It’s a rhyming book and it’s one of the few books Emma seems to enjoy (she is far less engaged with reading than Daniel was at the same age). We have the paperback version and the animals are touchy feely so great for young readers.
What the Ladybird Heard is a Julia Donaldson, and one of her best ones I think. I have read this often I know it off by heart. It is a lovely book and is a great one for both babies and older toddlers as there are so many activities that can be done with this book, some of which I plan to start doing with Daniel in the new year.
Daniel was never too bothered by the ‘that’s not my….’ books but Emma quite likes these. We have That’s Not My Tiger… and it is a well loved book by Emma with lots of different textures for her to play with and feel.
A less well known book that we have read time and time again is My Perfect Pet. This is another rhyming book and Daniel loves this one. There are lots of different animals in this book and lots of actions such as jumping, snapping etc.
The Pip and Post books are great for older babies and toddlers. I have a few of these on the wish list for Emma and Daniel. Our favourite one is The Bedtime Frog. A really simple story but a story that older babies and toddlers will identify with. Daniel really likes these books and even better there are lots of printable colouring sheets available on the Pip and Posy website. Perfect.
And, finally, ano
ther one that isn’t the easiest to read but Daniel adores is Hello, Goodbye. I picked this up in a charity shop and it is a very simple story but wonderfully illustrated and adored.
So, these are just some of our favourites books…. What are your favourite books to read with your children?

Great mind think alike. I just wrote almost an identical post after returning from our local library Bookbug session! Here are our top ten reads so far https://trainingmummy.com/books/
ooh, I wrote mine last night! Will head over and look at yours x
What the Ladybird Heard was one of the first books we read to Molly. Love most of Julia Donaldson’s books. All rhyming ones are good really
Yes, its a fab book that one. We also love Squash and a Squeeze and I like Zog but Daniel less impressed with that one x
Squash and a Squeeze of good. I wasn’t so keen on Zog tho.
We love so many it’s hard to narrow it down. Alex is into A Squash and squeeze at the moment, I have a Julia Donaldson post scheduled in for next week x
Oh yes, Daniel loves that one too at the moment 🙂
We love Pip and Posy (although we haven’t read The Bedtime Frog) and What the Ladybird Heard 🙂
