This week was the annual Home Education nativity, organised by my wonderful friend. It really is amazing how she pulls the whole event together and the children all do amazingly well in putting on a wonderful performance.
The format of the nativity is that as the children arrive at the hall they can do some crafts or play for 45 minutes or so before we get into the performance. This year a few of us organised some crafts to take along with us. There were snowflake crafts, painting, Christmas tree ornament making and my craft, a super simple craft that even the youngest children can join in with.
I must, however, hold my hands up and say that it was only about an hour or two before the nativity that I remembered I’d volunteered to do a craft, so it was a quick think of what did I have a lot of that we could use! Craft sticks were the answer!
What you need.

- Craft Sticks
- Glue gun
- Card (to print image of baby Jesus)
- wool
- Double-sided tape
I set about glueing three sticks together to form a triangle. I find using a glue gun is the most effective (and quickest thing) for doing this). After they’d dried I added a strip f double-sided tape along one edge and in the middle stuck an image of the baby Jesus. I then used some wool to create the straw in the manger.
You can add some string to the top of the triangle to then hang the finished item if you wish!
