I have a bit of a thing for stationery. I love nice pens and paper and have an impressive collection of stationery items. I was thrilled to be contacted by the team behind National Stationery Week to see if I would like to take a look at some of the items offered by a company called Smiggle.
I didn’t know much about Smiggle until the items arrived but they are actually an Australian company and they have been busy opening up stores across the UK. Sadly my nearest is in Sheffield which is some way to travel for new pens but this week sees the launch of their UK online store. Hurrah.
So… onto the fab goodies I was sent.First up is the Colour Pop backpack. I was sent the pick one and whilst it isn’t really a colour I would choose it is bright and vibrant and stores a surprising amount. There is a sleeve for a laptop/tablet and plenty of other pockets for phones, MP3 players, pens, notepads etc. I was really impressed with this. I use a backpack with the children as a changing bag and this held all the usual stuff I would take with me comfortably. This is the sort of bag that would have been perfect for school / college and I love the black one that is from the same range. The RRP for these bags is £26 which I think is probably about right as there are lots of little pockets and it is good quality materials and comfortable to use.
The second item I was sent were these amazing scented dual tip pens. They are in lovely bright colours and they are scented. I am full of a cold at the moment but can smell the scents, they are brilliant. They come in a sturdy plastic case which means that they are less likely to get lost etc.The case is really sturdy and the pens slot firmly into place. Each pen is twin tipped, one is a fine end which is perfect for writing with, the other is much thicker and is great for colouring in large areas.
I have been using these on some colouring books I have. They are great. They are also washable which means they are perfect for small hands. These are well priced at £8.50
I was also sent these twister crayons. I love these for a couple of reasons. Firstly, like the pens above they come in a lovely sturdy case. This makes them quite slim so they are able to slip into my bag for when I am out and about and need to have something to hand to distract Daniel with. These are a bargain at £10 and the quality is excellent. Daniel has liked using these and they are now stored in the changing bag along with a colouring book. The case has a clip lock which fastens it well.
I was also sent a tripple whammy pencil sharpener, some scented stickers and two rainbow pencils. The pencil sharpener is great and is a bargain at £2. It has one large and two small holes for sharpening different sized pencils. The barrel holds all the pencil shavings which means it’s mess free.
The stickers smell great and I am sure Daniel and Emma will enjoy decorating cards with these over the coming weeks.
The rainbow pencils are a neat little novelty item. They’re triangular shaped and are quite nice to write with. I think these will be a favourite with the children when they are a little older as they leave a nice effect when drawing.
I am really impressed with the stuff from Smiggle and will be a sneaking an order in this week as there is a whopping 20% using the code below, but hurry as this is only until 31st March.
