Why you need a side hustle

Ad

Have you ever heard the term ‘side-hustle?’ it’s something I’ve definitely managed with my blog and it makes a HUGE difference to our ‘treats pot’. Having that extra bit of income helps us to save a little money for a rainy day. There’s all manner of jobs you can do in addition to your main job; be that being at home running the house and home or in addition to an office job.

Follow your passions

I know people who have made a business out of their passions – friends who design things like Tee Rex Tee or other clothing lines. They have been uber-successful at turning their interests and passions into a business that more than pays for itself and helps them work on their creative ideas. In some instances, they’ve been able to make it their full-time job and really build their brand

Market your own skills

You might be able to put to use something you’ve developed if you’ve seen a gap in your own jobs world – this is something that those in professional type roles might be more easily able to do. For example, mortgage brokers would benefit from CRM solutions like those offered by BluMortgage, is there something similar that your industry might benefit from that YOU have the skills to build.

Industry professionals are often able to spot gaps in ways of working and can help to build new systems to help solve these issues. You’re also likely to have access to other professionals who might benefit so a ready market to sell to.

Start Small

A side hustle doesn’t always have to be something big and grand; it could be something as easy as delivering a newsletter or leaflets for a local business. Combine the school drop-offs with leaflet delivery – you’re out and about anyway so it’s an easy side-hustle to develop. Also, get in touch with local businesses who might need help with their online presence. A neighbor recently had something similar to a Vuelift panoramic lift fitted and was able to negotiate with the company as he offered website services for them to get their site up and running. This helps him add to his portfolio of completed work and the business now has an online presence/
