I was lucky enough to be gifted one of the new changing bags from the toTs by smarTrike range. I opted for the Infinity bag as this one looked to be the most suitable for me – I liked that it was a rucksack type shape which is what I have used in the past.
With Mr D and Miss E I used a BabyMel changing bag. The bag itself was fine, but just not big enough – especially when both Mr D and Miss E were in nappies. We use cloth nappies and the BabyMel only held my four/five – and there wasn’t room for anything else, so I ended up mostly just using an old rucksack which is now falling apart.
The Infinity changing bag is superb and it holds a surprising amount of stuff – without feeling like a huge bag. I’ve been using it for a month now and it’s brilliant. I have managed to pack so much stuff into it and have only once filled it up – this was a day when, in addition to the usual stuff, I packed hats and a change of tshirt for Mr D and Miss E as well as a size six woven wrap.
Day to day I have the items shown below – four/five cloth nappies, reusable wipes, baby wipes for grubby hands, bottles, milk powder, changing mat, hand creams, change of clothes, muslins, cardigan for me and drinks bottle for Mr D and Miss E. I also have a wet bag to put dirty wipes/nappies in but had just popped in the washing machine hence not in the picture below,
Also in the front pockets I have my mobile phone and purse. There’s still plenty of room with all the above packed in – enough space to add snacks and jackets etc for the older two.
The bag is super versatile too – it has straps to wear on the back (which is how I use it mostly) and these adjust easily to fit both my husband and I. You can also carry it by the two handles on the top or there is a long strap that can be clipped onto the sides to wear over shoulder messenger style or to hang over a pram/pushchair. It is the perfect bag for babywearing.
The other thing I like about this is the number of pockets to store things in. The front has a large zipper pocket complete with pouch to pop mobile phone into. At the sides there are two large pockets (one either side) I tend to keep muslins in here or a hat if its cooler or a bottle of water for the older two if its a hot day. Where the bag says toTs at the top, this flap lifts up to reveal another zipped pocket – I tend to pop my car/house keys in here. And the back underneath the ruck sack straps is a thin pocket – ideal for keeping paperwork in (letters to post or things picked up from the GP / Health Visitor).
Inside there is the main area as well as pockets to store the change mat (a good size change mat comes with the bag) as well as other pockets of varying sizes.
The bag also comes with a bottle holder (insulated to keep it warm) as well as a handy smaller bag that will hold a couple of disposable nappies and wipes. I haven’t used this bit as it won’t hold cloth nappies.
This really is a great bag. It’s well made and is perfect for carrying everything you’ll need. I also love that once it’s finished it’s use as a changing bag I can still use as a back pack. The bag holds more than enough cloth nappies and it would have been ideal for when both Mr D and Miss E were in cloth nappies – I wish they’d been available two years ago!
The toTs by smarTrike range is available at Smyths Toys and the beige version of the bag is currently on offer at £48.49 (RRP is £64.99). The Infinity bag is available in beige, purple or blue.
I was sent this bag in exchange for a fair and honest review. We love the bag and all words, images and opinions and my own.
