I think for many sectors, the last two years have been really tricky. But as well as some sectors struggling, it has made many individuals really think about what they want from life and has encouraged people to take the plunge to start their own ventures. It can be daunting taking that step to start a new business of to take a current business into the next gear, but here are some ideas for really building your business in 2022 and making it a year of growth.

Define Your Niche

What is it that you’re selling? What is your niche? Making yourself stand out is really key especially in some sectors. A lot of people start out with an online storefront as these can be cheap to start up and you can build and develop them relatively quickly and at low cost as your business grows as well as changes.

Your niche might be a particular product such as low carb foods (learn more here) or something more generic such as crafting supplies. Having a clear identity for your business will make you recognisable on social media or seller sites such as Etsy.  It is well worth experimenting with colour and branding ideas. What works for you and what helps you to stand out. What’s your style, is it young and fun or more sophisticated and stylish. Are you working with colour or monochrome? Having your identity clear means you can help to build a brand as your business grows.

Get everything in tip-top condition

Whatever it is you’re doing, make sure that everything is in the best condition it can be. If you’re selling items then consider investing in a light ring to assist your photography. If you’re running a cafe then take the time to make sure everything is serviced and professionally cleaned, even things like restaurant hood cleaning can make all the difference even if it’s something your customers won’t necessarily see.

Make sure stationery and uniforms are in line with your branding and that any staff understand and share your vision and aims.

Have a Formal Launch

Looking for a way to generate a buzz about your business is really important. You should look to have a formal launch. Get friends and family to share things on their social media and encourage them to tag in any of their friends that might be interested. Also look for others that might want to collaborate with you. For example, if you’re a crafter then perhaps look for other crafters who might want to share an in-person or online craft fair. If you’re running a cafe then encourage neighbouring businesses to come along.

Even solely online business can really benefit from a formal launch and organisations such as Bizzabo virtual event solutions can really help to launch your business and generate that buzz and give you something tangible to build upon.

Whatever your business ideas there are plenty of ways to help to get it off the ground in 2022. Make a plan and hopefully, with the ideas above, you’ll be generating growth soon during 2022.
