Our Favourite Jigsaw Puzzles

One of the things that we seem to have been doing more of over the last month or two is jigsaw puzzles. We have comes across some really good ones, so I thought I’d write a quick blog post to share them here.

I write about the Rebel Girls jigsaws in a blog post here last month, these are fantastic jigsaws and the children really enjoyed putting these together. They’re great quality and it’s worth checking out the full range of puzzles that Gibsons make, as I am sure there is something for everyone!

Along a similar theme is this fantastic Little Feminist jigsaw. We bought this for Em’s birthday and she and D really enjoyed putting this one together. Whilst it’s a larger jigsaw, the colour blocking of the characters makes it a relatively easy one to do. They tend to choose a colour and then put that person together before moving on to another. There is also this Little Scientist one which we might get at Christmas time.

A hero of Em’s is Frida Kahlo, and we reviewed this wonderful jigsaw from Laurence King a few months back. We spent a Sunday afternoon doing this one, and the detail in it is just fantastic. There’ so much to discuss with this one and it does a fantastic job of depicting Frida’s life and her influences as well as her artwork.  Laurence King do a wide range of jigsaws and I quite like the look of the Pop Art and Shakespeares one. These are all excellent for adding something different to any projects that you’re undertaking.

Finally, we have been really enjoying this Jamaica jigsaw from Very Puzzled. This jigsaw features Jamaica and a host of famous and key people from the Island. This is a 100 piece jigsaw and the children managed this one without me. I do wish there was an insert to tell you who all the people depicted are (I know some of them but can’t name them all) that said the quality of the jigsaw is superb (and the pattern on the reverse side is beautiful and adds an extra challenge too). There’s a range of jigsaws that Very Puzzled make which you can find on their website here.

The team behind Very Puzzled have been running a crowdfunding to secure funds to make a further ten puzzles featuring even more amazing countries and I hope this happens for them.
