We are a month into a new decade and you might be thinking it’s the same old same old. Nothing really changes. But why not make this the year you make a name for yourself in your chosen sphere?
Its all too easy to accept the life you find yourself living, and settling for a safe pace. But if you want your business to take off and get yourself really known then you need to have a plan in place.
What’s your niche?
First of all, decide on your niche. Are you the foremost seller of pressure sensors like this website? Or perhaps you want to be known for the best designed of cross stitching patterns? Whatever your niche make sure you create a brand around it and have a clear vision for it.
Perhaps you’re looking to do something different in life. What are your hobbies and interests, can you monetise these? Or perhaps you don’t want to follow the money, and instead, want to demonstrate the skills or talents that you have? Or perhaps you just feel like a total career change – click here for some interesting career ideas that might provide a little inspiration for you.
Develop your ideas
It pays to develop your ideas and, in this world, develop an online profile. Create Facebook pages and Instagram feeds in line with your niche. Think about the style and feel of your pages. Are you going fora clean and fresh look to showcase your work, or are you going for fun and funky feel? Who is your audience and what is their demographic? Look at other pages and feeds that you like and make a note of what it is that draws you in and think of ways you could create your own unique version of that.
Interaction online is a really key way to build a social following. Look for others in your niche, and interact with them! Social media is supposed to be SOCIAL – talk and chat. Share the work of others; you never know they might, in turn, share your posts and word of mouth in any industry is so so important.
Look at the hashtags that those in your niche and using and you too can use them and interact on those hashtags. Getting an online version and persona early on helps to build up a history and feel for your business.
Find partner
Finally, it does pay to look for people to partner with. Influencers can sometimes get a bad name but they’re called influencers because they really do influence others. My own niche is children’s books and home education activities and I often get asked my opinions by followers about my views on a certain curriculum or asked for suggestions of books. Sites such as findyourinfluence.com can assist you with finding the right influencer and partners for your brand and really help to get your product and ideas out there to their followers.
I hope by utilising some of these ideas 2020 is the year that you make a name for yourself and get known for those skills and talent that make you, you!
