Fun Craft Ideas For Moms’

Collaborative Post

Being a mom is a rewarding but we all know how demanding it is. As much as we love our kids, our role as a mother rarely leaves any time for self care. However, finding a creative outlet at home is really important for maintaining your mental wellbeing and also keeping part of the old ‘you’ alive, your sense of self outside of being a mom who enjoys things too. Som engaging in fun crafting hobbies is something to look into, it’s a way to unwind and also provides you with a much needed break from the hectic routine. Read on to find out about some that are worth trying.

Jewellery Making

Creating jewellery can be a really rewarding crafting hobby. You can start with simple beadwork making bracelets or necklaces, or you can have a go at casting your own pendants out of different metals and more. From beautiful citrine to rose quartz and other semi precious stones you can make some stunning pieces that you can either wear yourself, sell or to put away so that you always have a special gift to give to your loved ones on birthdays and Christmases. If you enjoy design work, you could even design some pretty cards on something like Photoshop, print them out and hang your jewellery onto them for the perfect presentation just like you’d get with shop bought jewellery.

Candle Making

Candle making can be therapeutic as well as being a practical hobby that moms can enjoy at home. It requires you to have minimal equipment, and the process itself is simple and customisable (eg, you can go with all natural scents, wax and ingredients if you dont like the chemicals that shop bought candles use). Experiment with different scents and colors to create personalized candles, the perfect way to infuse your home with soothing fragrances.

Painting

You could go with acrylics, watercolors, or even experiment with mixed media, painting gives you that blank canvas for self expression and it’s fun too. You could consider joining online painting classes for beginners or simply enjoy the process of creating without any pressure. Lots of people are put off painting because they’re not ‘good’ at it, but dont worry about creating a masterpiece. Just enjoy the process instead.

Baking

Baking is a fantastic hobby and also a really useful skill to have as a mom. There will always be things like bake sales that your kids schools are having that need you to provide cakes. Plus you can bake cakes for your kids birthday parties, for halloween or Christmas treats and so much more. Try experimenting with new recipes, decorating cupcakes or have a go with pastry. If you’re more interested in the decorating side of things, look into treat making. Here you use premade cakes, cookies, brownies etc and assemble and decorate them until they’re something new.

Knitting or Crocheting

Knitting and crocheting offer a relaxing and portable crafting option for busy moms. Creating scarves, blankets, or even small accessories allows for creative expression while keeping your hands busy without having to reach for your phone.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is a fulfilling hobby for moms as chances are you have a million photos and memories and want a good way to display them. Its a shame when all of our pictures and precious memories sit in boxes collecting dust, so this way they become really beautiful and interactive pieces of art that you can relive your days through. Gather up your photos, ticket stubs, and other mementos to create beautiful and personalized scrapbook pages.
