My first book of the week for 2020 is the wonderful A Year of Nature Poems by Joseph Coelho and illustrated by Kelly Louise Judd.
This book was initially published last year but is now available in paperback. It seems the perfect book for me to feature at the start of the year.
It’s a lovely book with a poem for each month of the year. You learn how animals behave in different seasons and learn about the cycle of nature through the trees and plants. The poems are all wonderful and are perfect for poetry tea time. We like to look at the monthly poem at the start of each month and talk about how we think it might reflect the season and moment of life we are in.
I really like the book. It gives us a focus and reason to do our Poetry tea time at least once a month, and it opens up many a talking point. I am looking forward to re-visiting this book this year again with the children. If you’re looking to start a poetry tea time with your own family, this might be a helpful post to identify some wonderful poetry books.
