We are keen for the children to be active and, once they are older, hope to have bikes and do some cycling together.
We toyed with the idea of getting Daniel a bike of some sort for his birthday last year, but felt he was a little too young at the moment. Since then I’ve been looking at balance bikes and we thought that might be a good way to get him introduced to bikes and give him a different way to travel around the parks we visit.
I don’t really buy a lot off ebay, but I have been keeping an eye on balance bikes that have been coming up locally and last week I spotted two that had a starting price of 99p. Both looked in immaculate condition.
The first one ended up going for around £22 – which was a little more than we wanted to ideally spend. So, as the second bike’s auction was drawing to an end I placed a well time bid and managed to nab the bike for £13.25. We collected it on Sunday and, other than the tyres needing pumping up, it is in perfect condition.
The weather wasn’t brilliant last week but we had a little go up and down the road on it, and Daniel is so pleased with it. He is just that little bit on the short side to use it fully at the moment, but he has enjoyed trundling up and down the road. I am sure that, over the summer, he will gain that little bit of extra height and get used to balancing on his little bike.
Do you use ebay, and if so, what is the best bargain you have had?
