Woodford Classic Car Rally 2015

Woodford Classic Car Rally 2015

Bank Holiday Monday was true to form in that it rained. And rained. And rained.

We had a fairly busy weekend with one thing and another so decided that we would head across to the Woodford Classic Car Rally. It’s only a short drive from ours to Woodford so we thought it would be a nice way to get some fresh air without having to go too far away.

Classic Car rallys are a great day out for the family

I’d seen an advert for the event pop up on my Facebook feed and thought it might be a nice little thing to do with the children. Plus it had the added benefit of being cheap (hurrah) and the money raised going to charity.

We donned our wellies and made the short trip across the A6 to Woodford. My parents met us there and we had a good walk around, taking in the cars. Mr D is beginning to recognise letters so much fun was had spotting letters on the car number plates, all the while we were trying to disuade him from putting his hands all over the cars!

Some of the cars were in absolute mint condition, despite being old and I love that there are enthusiasts who spend their time maintaining cars like this.

The children had a good run around whilst we stopped to look at the cars before Damian and my parents got a hotdog and the children had an ice cream.

We then headed into the cricket club house where they were serving tea and coffee as well as some delicious home made cakes. The children started getting a bit restless so after we had drank our drinks we headed back out and back to our cars.

We passed an hour or so there and it was good to see so many different cars. Some have really stood the test of time and look stylish today; others less so and they are very much ‘of their time’. It will be interesting to see what cars turn up at events like this in another thirty of so years time!

I love looking at classic cars too, they are so well kept and some great colours and shapes too. Great that you managed to have lots of fun despite the rain and I love that you used the number plates to practice letters as well. You always need a homemade cake when you go to these events too, my favourite part!
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

Oh wow, classic cars are so beautiful. I love how well they’re looked after. I love rally’s like this. They’re so much fun for the whole family. I’m glad you enjoyed the day regardless of the rain. It really would be interesting to see how much the car rally’s change in the future. I was just wondering the other day where all the cars from the 90’s went, you rarely see them anymore. Then I found out by my mum that most of them would have been scrapped rather than kept like this when the government introduced a scheme to get people buying new cars again. So sad!! Thank you so much for linking to #whatevertheweather x
