It has been a while since I have sat down and written. As ever, life changes, day pass and the general rhythm of life changes. We have been busy with the house, the children and just everything else in between!
Damian did have some time off from work recently and we were fortunate in that it was quite nice weather wise! He has been quite unfortuante recently in that when he has taken leave it’s been horrible weather wise, usually brightening up when he is back in the office.
This time, however, the weather was good and it meant we could make the most of it and get out with the children for a few days. We decided at the start of the week to head to Applejacks Farm in Warrington. Now, anyone who knows me reading this is probably aghast at the idea of me going to a farm, but thankfully it’s not a farm with animals, rather farm land thats been converted in a giant playarea for children.
It isn’t somewhere we have been before, but with 40% off tickets a friend had told me about it and it seemed like a good opportunity.
AppleJacks Farm is located in Warrington and was probably around a 30-40 minute drive for us. We got there just as it was opening. Whilst the site did get busy during the day there wasn’t any point at which it felt too busy or where the children had to queue to use anything.
There’s plenty of spaces to sit and wait too whilst the children are having fun. Damian and I managed to get some time to just relax and chat and do a few admin type jobs that seem to be never ending. The children had great fun on the jumping pillows and slides and a big hit was the shooting games where they fired soft balls across a barn at each other (and us!) as well as into haystacks and targets. I love this pic of Em with the bow and arrow – I really must get around to making some mixbook photo albums of all our fave photos.
We took a picnic with us but there is food available on site and it seemed to be reasonably priced. Damian and I got a coffee and the children had an ice cream before we headed off on a tractor ride around the grounds. Even our eldest begrudginly enjoyed the tractor ride!
One thing to note is that you’re advised to wear long sleeves as there’s a risk of friction burns etc from some of the items. I wore my Lighthouse clothing t-shirt that was nice and cool as well as having longer sleeves.
Thankfully the weather stayed nice and dry so I didn’t need a raincoat (although being used to the unreliable nature of the weather they were in the car!)
Summer days seem to pass by so quickly, and sunny ones even faster! It was lovely to take a day out of the chaos of life and spend a day with the children having good fun! We spent most of the day at Applejacks, heading home around 3pm. Our favourite activities were the ball blaster, the jumping pillows and the obstacle course.
