I know even as I am writing this my own mum and my husband will roll their eyes! I have a birthday in December and whilst everyone asks me what I would like, I can never quite come up with any ideas! That said, I thought I’d put together some ideas for what you could buy; based on my own experiences of things people have bought me that I’ve really liked.
What does she like?
I am naturally fairly organised. I like keeping notes and to do lists and have a diary. Maybe try and sneak a look at the type of diaries she uses? Or a good quality notebook. I’m always planning various bits and pieces and a good notebook really does help me to keep all my ideas in one place. A lovely leather journal might be the sort of thing she wouldn’t buy herself, but makes a fab gift.
Experience day
How about afternoon tea at a local hotel? Or a spa afternoon? There are lots of great deals available and it, again, gives her the opportunity to have some time to herself! I know that I am terrible at making time for me; even when I should be having a break I end up doing work or chores in the house. Having an activity physically somewhere else makes a big difference and it is the sort of thing that helps me switch off.
Creative Crafts
Is she creative? At this time of year, there are some great magazine subscription deals. Maybe crochet, needle felting or cross-stitch might be something she’d like to try? You can pick up kits quite easily in Hobbycraft or online (these here look great). It also offers the chance for her to learn something new, as well as taking a bit of time to herself. I enjoy cross-stitching and having bought myself a magazine recently and a couple of small kits it’s given me the excuse to sit and relax for a bit.
Create a Hamper
And if all else fails, creating a hamper of goodies is a perfect idea. You could buy a chocolate hamper and add some other bits to it such a book, some nice coffee and a mug. You could add in some bath goodies too and she has the perfect excuse for a lazy Sunday afternoon! Now… Damian if you’re reading this you know what I’ll be doing the Sunday after Christmas!
