Collaborative Post
Gosh, it’s been a long time since last year’s summer holiday, hasn’t it? The last few months seem to have dragged on for years, as we’ve all locked down at home to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus. You might not have seen your friends or family in person for months. You might not have even left your house, aside from a few essential outings, since march.
Many of us have had this year’s summer holiday cancelled, which is quite depressing when if we’re honest, we need a change of scenery more than ever before. But that doesn’t mean that you’ll never be able to travel again. Or, that you can’t have some fun planning your first post lockdown break, even if you decide that you don’t want to risk making any bookings just yet.
Stay Close To Home
Holidays don’t have to mean flying to the other side of the world, or even to sunny European tourist hotspots, which is good, because who knows when foreign travel will be a realistic option again.
There are plenty of beautiful places and luxury caravan holidays much closer to home. While restrictions are in place, even when we are allowed to travel, it might be a good idea to stay close to home, choosing a remote location near to where you live, or just somewhere you’ve never spent much time.
Travel By Car
Public transport might be restricted, and potentially dangerous for quite some time. We’ll likely be free to travel within this country before transport systems return to normal. So, drive if you can. You’ll know who you are close to, you’ll have the freedom to travel when and where you want, and your journey will be more comfortable.
Think Outside The Box
You might be able to travel and stay in a caravan soon, but that doesn’t mean that all of the businesses near to your destination will be open or operating normally. You might have to think outside the box, avoiding popular destinations, and spending more time exploring the great outdoors instead.
Update Your Picnic Skills
Restaurants and cafes may have to limit capacity for some time yet. Which, in popular tourist destinations, may mean long waits for food and drinks.
In many cases, it will be easier, faster, safer, and cheaper to pack picnics for your days out, if you can’t get back to eating at your accommodation. So, check out some fun picnic recipes before you travel.
Shop Online
Summer clothes, sunscreen, and other supplies will be difficult to buy while shops are closed and then practising social distancing. Order anything that you need online, leaving plenty of time for extended delivery times.
Check Insurance
If you are booking a trip within the next year, you may want to take out travel insurance, or make sure your booking is protected, should you need, or choose to cancel for any reason.
Look Further Forward
We don’t know when lockdown will completely end. But we do know that it probably will. You might want to focus on days out close to home, for now, all the time thinking of places that you’d like to visit in the future.
Whenever your next break comes, it will certainly be a good one. But, before then, stay safe, and take care of yourself at this dangerous time.
