Another month has ticked by and another month to appraise where we are up to and what our next plans are. I feel like we have got through a lot of work since the start of 2021 and I am hoping that May brings some good weather and with it days out exploring.
Longer Projects
Our main project during May will be a Rivers project I think as well as hopefully making a start on a Darwin-themed study. I haven’t yet planned these out in any real detail but I will be using the CGP Rivers book as the basis to structure the rivers project. For the Darwin project, I want to focus more on him as an individual and how he developed his theories, rather than the theories themselves. We will save that for a later date I think.
Themed Studies
Our artist studies will continue in May with sessions on Paul Klee, Van Gogh and Faith Ringgold. I am really enjoying these studies and I think all three chilldre are taking a lot from these studies as I hear them referencing artists and different types of art a lot.
Composers work is continuing and we have the sessions booked in with the Cardiff Violin Teacher which we are enjoying. I need to make sure we are all booked onto the ones that are planned for May time.
We have another poet study in May, Spike Milligan as well as our speaking and listening group which is all about food!
One-Off Sessions
I have a few sessions planned in May to look at Cinco de Mayo, Ramadan, World Otter Day and hopefully a session to look at the Local and Mayoral Elections here in Greater Manchester. I am sure that other things will crop up too, but with two bank holidays and some leave for Damian, I am hoping to try and keep May light on commitments.
Em also has a virtual Beaver camp over one weekend which I hope she will enjoy.
So, May is pretty light on planned activities. I think I will use it as a time to consolidate some of the Maths and English work we are doing as well as really working with H on his reading as he has taken an interest in regular reading practice again which is good.
