Another month has ticked by and another month to appraise where we are up to and what our next plans are.
Longer Projects
I ended up switching our planned Vikings project to a Stone Age project instead and we will continue working on that during March with a view to finishing it up. We will also do a bit on International Women’s Week but I want to cross this over into STEM too with a particular focus on the recent Mars missions and the teams behind those (the UAE one is particularly female focussed). We will also look at some women from previous missions too.
We will of course pick up Easter themed work at the end of the month but I’ve not yet planned how I’ll do this.
Themed Studies
Our artist and composer studies will continue in April with Keith Haring and Frida Kahlo. I’m really enjoying these and the children are too. There’s a lot to cover with the artists and it’s been really interesting for me to research them and learn more. Art isn’t something I enjoyed at school; and I certainly don’t recall being exposed to the variety that I’m covering with my own children now.
Composers work is continuing and I need to recap the February ones with the children as well as looking forward to the March ones of Mozart and Mendelssohn. These are interesting and it’s nice to have something that the children can get stuck into.
Finally, we will continue the poet study with a look at AA Milne in March.

As ever, there will be some other bits picked up across the month and, hopefully, lots of time out on the canal to enjoy and observe the changing seasons. Em has said she wants to do another birds project so I’ll look to try and squeeze that in somewhere too.
