Another month has ticked by and another month to appraise where we are up to and what our next plans are. I’m not sure that May was a particularly productive month; we had lots of other ‘life’ things going on in May that have taken up my headspace and I think June will be a quieter than normal month too. That said, we will do some things, and I’m sharing my loose June plan here.
Longer Projects
Our main project during June will be a Viking project. We really enjoy these longer more detailed projects and history is a winner here. I haven’t planned much for this yet, other than some rough ideas in my head of some things I want to recap with the children and other things I need to do some research on.
Themed Studies
Our artist studies will continue in June with sessions on Alma Thomas, Kenojuak Ashevakand Matisse. These studies continue to be enjoyed and I can see it being something we continue on for a long time yet.
This month’s speaking and listening session is on creatures – so we have chosen our projects for that and will start these early on in the month. H is learning about bees, Em is learning about the rewilding of wolves in Yellowstone Park and D is looking at rainforest animals (linked to our rivers study when we looked at the Amazon river).
One-Off Sessions
I don’t have many planned activities in June; I think the inevitable wind down to summer plus families making the use of the (hopefully!) better weather means that it will be harder to get us all together. I also need to pull back a bit and sort out some home stuff and general life admin like getting the car MOT’d, sorting out car seats for H and then sorting out other things that crop up at the end of the month. We also all have dental appointments in June and I should probably look to get my eyes tested.
We may also join in with the themed bake off, but I am just trying to work out how I can fit that in this coming week and we will also take part in 30 days wild.
We will probably spend much of the month working on math and H’s reading and doing a detailed Viking study.

Whats the 30 Days Wild thing?
It’s run by the wildlife trust and encourages children/families to do 30 days of outdoor activities to get into nature
