Is Your Friend Expecting? Host An Unforgettable Baby Shower

Collaborative Post

Have you been put in charge of your friend’s baby shower? If so, this is a great responsibility on your shoulders. You don’t want to get it wrong, although there is no right or wrong way to host a party. One thing we will mention is to be sure to check on the guest list with the mum-to-be. The last thing you want is to invite someone she no longer gets on with.

Venue

The first thing to get right is the venue. A baby shower doesn’t need a big fancy venue; it can be held at your own home or even the mum-to-be home. You just need some comfy chairs and a big space to fit everyone in. If you do want to hire a venue then be sure to decorate it with baby shower decorations. These include banners and streamers in the colour of the gender if this is known.

Gifts

A baby shower is a perfect venue to give gifts for both the mum to be and the baby. A lot of people forget about the mum when buying gifts and just focus on baby items. This is great as you can never have too many burp cloths or clothing items when the baby comes along but the mum to be might like to be remembered also. Special pre and post-pregnancy packs will be greatly appreciated by the mum. These usually include lotions and potions to apply to firm the skin and make you feel better. Personalised baby gifts are also a nice addition to any baby wardrobe. You can get special packs with clothing and blankets.

Food

What is a party without food? The mum might be bloated due to the tiny human she is growing inside her so a buffet-style layout might be the route to go down. If you are hiring out a venue they might offer some form of catering. If not you can make your own stuff and take it with you. If you are serving alcohol be wary that the mum won’t be able to drink, so maybe stick to the soft drinks.

You could have personalised baby food items at the baby shower. This could be something like cupcakes with the icing in the colour of the gender or a cake in the shape of a baby.

Entertainment

Oen final thing to mention to make your party complete is traditional baby shower games. These include ideas such as pinning the dummy on the baby or who can change the baby in the quickest time. You will need to have enough dolls and nappies for everyone or get into teams to save money. You could also get each guest to bring a picture of when they were a baby and play guess who. This could also be done in teams to make it more fun and competitive.

We hope you found this article helpful and everyone enjoys the baby shower. Remember that it can be tiring being pregnant so set a time limit on the party so as not to overwork the bump. When you send out invites be sure to highlight the times in bold so everyone knows when to leave by.
