As a stay-at-home mum, you probably find it hard to stay sane while taking care of your kids, maintaining your home full-time and everything that comes with it. As a result, you may fall into chaos and even feel like you lack control over your kids, home and yourself. To stay sane and regain some level of control, here are a few things you could do.

Set Aside Time for Your Hobbies

Make time for your hobbies. It does not matter how busy your schedule is, take ten to 30 minutes each day to do something you love and enjoy doing. It could be knitting socks for your toddler, going swimming, painting or even arranging putting things together at home. If you like doing the latter, you can consider buying new furniture and putting it together using guides like the Amberley painted furniture build guide.

Maintain A Social Life

It would be best if you stayed in touch with your peers and friends as a break from staying home with kids. You can plan play dates with your peers’ kids or have a night out with other moms. Device ways and routines with your friends to make it more fun and easy. For instance, have an online spa party with other stay at home moms.

Have a Regular Self Care Routine

First, you need some sense of self care to look after your family. You may feel selfish putting yourself first but remind yourself that it is mandatory. Have a self-care routine that you practice regularly. You can do several things apart from taking a bath and putting on a face mask. Once in a while, consider going out for a walk. Also, get a sitter for the night and have a night out, book an appointment with your doctor, etc.

Make Money From Home

There are so many online jobs that you can sign up for and make money from the comfort of your home. You can pick something you love to do or have marketable skills and start earning from it. This way, you will feel fulfilled and get busy with fewer house chores to do. These things can include creating a blog, freelance writing, an Etsy shop, and more.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising impacts on your health and mental health. It would be best to exercise regularly to stay strong, healthier and more energetic. Consider creating a routine that works best for you- taking a walk, jogging,  weightlifting at the gym or doing home workouts. You can include your kids in your schedule if you cannot leave them at home by maybe having an active outdoor playtime with them.

Create Alone Time for Yourself

Creating some alone time for yourself can include activities like meditating, reading a book, having a spa day, or going for a drive. You can set aside a few hours a day to do this or do so once every week. Having some regular alone time will help you gain some mental and emotional capacity to take care of your family.

Conclusion

No matter what you do, ensure you incorporate regular exercises and alone time into your stay at home schedule. You can also set aside time for your hobbies, a self-care routine and use your skills to make money from home. These are some ways you can emotionally, physically and mentally stay sane to take care of your kids.
