I have had a Garmin Vivoactive smartwatch since around 2019 and I wear it daily. I originally purchased it in order to utilise the GPS and mileage tracking when I was doing a lot of running. I now use it as a watch but also keep a general eye on my levels of activity throughout the day.
Around 12-18 months ago the strap loop snapped and I bought some replacements via Amazon and I have noticed, in the last few months that there is some wear and a small tear to the silicone on the main strap now, prompting me to think about replacing it sooner rather than later.
Happily, like many smartwatches, the Vivoactive has a quick release to enable the straps to be swapped out quickly and easily. The official Garmin straps start at around £35 for a silicone band, which isn’t the cheapest. It was therefore perfect timing when FitStraps got in touch to ask if I would like to take a look at their replacement straps.
Choosing a New Strap
Firstly, I had to choose the new Garmin vivoactive 3 strap – and there is plenty to choose from! There are silicone, leather, and metal ones, in different colours, pattern and styles. I opted for a plain black strap to match the original as well as a purple strap, a grey leather one and a metal one for comparison. The straps arrived quickly and I was impressed with the quality of them. I fitted the black one initially, and I am hard-pressed to tell the Fitstraps version and the original Garmin version apart! You can see the wear on my original strap where the pattern has faded over time.
In the image below the original Garmin strap is on my watch with the replacement purple and black ones either side.
The other straps I haven’t used as yet, although have fitted them to the watch (the grey leather strap is in the image at the top of this post, and I will in most likelihood use those straps when I want a ‘dressier’ option for my watch as opposed to my everyday workout watch.
