2025 has been a year and a half, and one I will be very glad to see the end of. It has been a year that has felt relentless and hard. Devastating and difficult and like a ride you just want to get off.
In the midst of all the difficulties of 2025 I have had my own issues, and around Easter time received a diagnosis of a (thankfully) benign breast disease. It’s never been suspected of anything sinister, but the team I have been under have really looked after me, tested, biopsied and everything else in between and, at some point in the not too distant future, I will need an operation.
Now, those that know me will know that even just getting my blood pressure taken is enough to send me into crisis – the white coat fear is real! So the prospect of having an operation and being under a general anaesthetic is somewhat worrying for me. I trust it will all be OK, and I’d rather not be having anything done. But we are where we are and we move forwards to hopefully a resolution in the next month or two.
When life is so busy with kids and school and running a house, feeding everyone and everything in between, I need to take a step back and look after myself more and when I saw the opportunity to try out the Shark Glam Sleek Pink, I thought it might be the perfect excuse to stop and take time for me. I find it harder as the children get older to carve out moments for myself so this felt like the perfect excuse.
What is the Shark Glam Sleek?
The shark glam sleek is a tool that promises effortless hair styling to help transform your hair in a myriad of ways. I was a bit sceptical if I am honest, especially as my hair is so fine and I rarely do anything other than tie it back. I find styling my hair really tricky so was intrigued with the claim of it being easy and effortless.
The Shark Glam Sleek arrived in its own little carry bag (super useful for taking on holiday) and there’s a number if accessories with it. The two that I was most interested in were the air wrap curlers and the glossi tool.
Trying it Out
There’s a number of short videos you can watch to show you how to use the tool and I gave it a quick go. It did take me a few attempts to work out how to get my hair to wrap around the curling tool, but once I had worked it out I was away. The glossi tool is great too and I really like how this gave my hair some shape and volume which is most definitely usually lacks.
I’ve also tried it out on Em’s hair which is longer and much thicker than mine and it does the job well. She’s been eyeing it up, and I am sure it will disappear up to her room some time soon! That said it worked well on both my fine hair and her thicker hair.
Em likes the hairdryer element of it; it’s much lighter than our standard hairdryer and she’s able to switch it into this mode and dry her hair with relative ease. We find getting the hair about 80-90% dry before styling it helps a lot.
My Top Tips for Using the Shark Glam Sleek
So, I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, ‘good’ at styling hair, but even I managed to create a few decent styles and thought I’d share my top tips for getting stuck in with the Shark Glam Sleek so that you can replace your multiple hair care tools and equipment with the Shark Glam Sleek kit,
- Use a heat protector spray or a volumising mousse. As mentioned my hair is fine so I use a volumising mousse that helps to give my hair a bit more body and movement. Using this alongside the Shark glossi tool really helps to give some good shape to my hair. Using the heat protector spray also helps to keep hair in tip top condition.
- When using the curling tool, hold your hair at around two inches from the end and hold this towards the curler – this will then wrap around and you roll the rest of the hair onto it.
- For curls, it definitely helps to pin them up to allow them to cool fully, and using the cool air function as you wrap them helps to keep curls in. This was especially the case for Em as her hair is so thick the weight can drag the curls down easily.
What Tools are Included
There are a lot of tools included in this kit including two air wrap curlers (one for left hand side and another for the right), glossi hot tool, diffuser to help define curls, silki tool to smooth out hair (and works on wet to dry hair), frizz fighter tool and the main unit itself can be used as hairdryer without any attachments.
I haven’t use the diffuser tool as my hair is straight but the other tools are all excellent. They fit into the unit really easily with a quick twist (there’s a button to aid release of the tools) and you can control the heat and air flow (with settings for wet or dry hair). It didn’t take me too long to work out what was the best combination of settings for my own hair.
Included is a carry case to fit everything in. It has two sides and there is more than enough room (and pockets) to add a comb, hairbrush and clips (I’ve even managed to fit my heat protection spray in too!)
Overall Impressions
I was pretty impressed with the Shark Sleek Glam – it is easy to use and I was able to create some loose curls pretty quickly and also blow our my hair with a slight wave to give it a bit more shape and interest. It didn’t take any longer than my usual routine of drying then getting the other styling tools out and I love the convenience of having everything in one easy to carry bag, rather than multiple things such as hairdryer, straighteners, curling wand etc.
The Shark Sleek Glam is really good for a quick refresh in the morning as well as a more definite and defined style for an evening out
Em is desperate to have a good play with this and I’ve promised her we’ll try and few different styles over the half term break, although I suspect she’ll soon be a whizz with it and won’t need my help quite so much!
