Harry is really getting into books and starting to show a preference for the types of stories he enjoys. It’s lovely to see him mirror his older siblings’ excitement when a book parcel arrives. A short while ago we got a lovely bundle of books from Little Tiger and I think H has claimed these for himself.
One that he returns to and likes me to read aloud to him is the lovely A Walk Through Nature by Libby Walden and illustrated by Clover Robin. The natural world is always fascinating to me as an adult and it’s lovely to see the wonder that it inspires in my children. A Walk Through Nature is a fantastic book to introduce younger children to the seasons, letting them reflect on the things that they’ve likely seen when they have been out and about.
The book is well done and combines soft gentle verse with beautiful collage style illustrations with pages that open up gatefold style with additional information and pictures on. There’s a whole host of topics covered in this book – migration, changing seasons, development and many many more. It’s such a wonderful beautifully crafted book and one that we have enjoyed and marvelled over together many times in recent weeks.
I hope that by sharing books like this, my children continue to love and find wonder in the natural world around us.
