A new lease of life

A new lease of life

About six or so weeks ago I had gone to collect a parcel that had been left with one of me neighbours. Whilst I was collecting it they asked if we wanted an old bench that they had used with their, now teenage, children.

The bench was a bit tired looking but would certainly be of use to us so I of course said yes, thinking we could probably tidy it up and give it a new lease of life at some point.

We sat in our back garden and the kids have loved it. Damian has intended to sand it and paint it up etc, but was struggling to find the time. My Dad offered to take it and do it up. So, after collecting it earlier this week it was returned to us yesterday. And it looks amazing. I think he has done an amazing job on it and the kids just love it!

They enjoyed their strawberries and ice cream last night whilst sitting on the bench and had their breakfast there this morning. I am going to make a little thank you card for our neighbours with the children this week with a picture of the revamped bench to show them what we have done with it.

My dad wrote a little about the bench here and there are more pictures of the restoration there.

That’s lovely Sarah. I think the children will have many years of enjoyment from the bench and I think your dad really enjoyed doing it.

Fab! Nothing beats taking an old piece of furniture under your wing and bringing it to life again. You’ve done a great job and a bonus for the children!

The bench looks perfect now, and the kids look so cute sitting on it. I just read your dad’s post, and it’s a proper restoration, actually taking it apart and putting in new wood – I am so impressed! #toddlerapprovedtuesday
