I’m a big fan of easy read books and love getting to know characters in the stories. I signed up to the A Country Dilemma booktour in a bid to kick start my reading again for 2020. I’ve been trying to get my ‘to be read’ reading pile down and I managed to read this one in the Christmas – New Year lull!

What’s the Story about?

The story follows a group of characters that centre around Treweham Hall in the Cotswolds. As I was reading this story it dawned on me that many of the characters seemed familiar, and as I read further in I recalled reading an earlier on in the trilogy. You don’t need to have read the other stories for this one to make sense; they all work fine as a stand-alone story.

Some of the characters are settled whereas others are looking to start afresh and others are marrying. There are a few different strands running throughout the book that neatly tie up at the end.

A Country Dilemma is the final Treweham Hall story.

Characters

A lot of the characters in this story have been developed earlier in the other books, so they’re quite well rounded and have a lot of depth. There’s much to enjoy in this story and I liked the relationship between the outgoing Pub landlord and the new one who was experiencing a crisis of her own.

The marriages keep it fresh as does the discovery of new member of the Cavendish-Blake family. The only storyline I struggled with was the one of Dylan and Flora – it seemed a bit superfluous to the overall, but that may well be to satisfy something in an earlier book. That said it doesn’t distract really from the overall direction of the story which is fun and enjoyable.

What I loved

I loved that I recognised the characters within a few pages of reading this book – their story has obviously made an impression on me and I’m keen to re-visit the other two books in the trilogy to complete the full story.  The characters are all really well developed and you can really empathise with them all. There’s a lot going on in this book but Sasha Morgan does a fantastic job of keeping them all intertwined and ending nicely.

This book is the perfect easy, enjoyable read and is well worth adding to your reading list this spring.
