Winter Knitwear with FemmeLuxe

Ad

Whilst the move from summer to autumn is well underway it’s definitely feeling much cooler now and, whilst I’m still a fan of dresses in the autumn time, knitwear is a real staple at this time of year and I’ve been enjoying a few items from FEMMELUXE.

Embracing knitwear

I love the versatility of knitwear. Throwing on a lovely warm jumper is the perfect antidote to the cooling weather. I love putting on a lovely snuggly jumper and curling up with a hot chocolate and a book – there’s something about embracing Hygge that appeals to me in the colder weeks and months; perhaps it’s that feeling of getting ready for the months ahead and hunkering down against the weather.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for getting my glad rags on and putting on one of my ‘going out dresses‘ but a warm snuggly thick jumper on a lazy Sunday is perfection for me.

Why you should embrace and love knitwear

Sweaters and knitwear are the perfect wardrobe staple. You can make an outfit up really quick – a day in the office; throw on a sweater or cardigan and blouse. Off for a walk with friends? Throw on a sweater and boots. Off for an evening meal – knitwear is your friend! At this time of year when temperature drops are hard to gauge, sweaters and the perfect solution, especially when using them to layer.

Layering Up

Knitwear is also great for layering which adds interest to an outfit. Whether you’re rocking a bodycon dress or something more casual like jeans a t-shirt adding layers with knitwear is a great thing to do. A long cardigan works well, or a thin jumper or adding a knitted scarf in. Adding an open cardigan, be it a long one or a short one adds interest (and helps keep you warm!). I have a few neutral colours in my wardrobe and they’re great for when it’s not quite cold enough for a jumper like the one above, but you do need a little extra to help to keep the chill at bay.

Layering is a stylish way to change up your outfits, but also super practical at this time of year. I find that adding layers to my outfits helps me to regulate temperatures better. On those days when you’re about and about it can be tricky to gauge the temperatures accurately. Adding layers to your outfit means you can discard them if you get too warm, or add to them if it’s a little cooler. Perfect!

Long-Line Jumpers

I LOVE chunky knits and a long line jumper is a brilliantly versatile addition to your wardrobe. You can wear with jeans for a more casual look or team with leggings and heels for a dressier evening look. Look to add a belt and accessorize with a bag and you’re all set. If you have a wardrobe full of going out tops then you can add chunky knits over the top to keep you warm, and like layers, it can be discarded if you end up somewhere a bit warmer.

Covid has brought a real change to how nights out look and more and more bars and restaurants are embracing and utilizing outdoor spaces for customers. It is definitely getting cooler now so, even with a patio heater nearby, you’re probably still going to want to wear something to keep you warm.

Chunky knitwear like in the image below is perfect for this. Accessorized with a nice pendant necklace, a belt to cinch in the waist and worn with skinny jeans or sparkly leggings you’ve got yourself a warm going out outfit.

The jumper dress is the ultimate easy outfit – and can be accessorized in many ways. The easiest and quickest look is to wear black leggings and boots but don’t shy away from heels and hotpants underneath. It’s a look that works well for a stompy walk with the kids – just add leggings and boots, or for an evening out with the girls – heels and skinny jeans, shorts or glitter leggings. It’s a great easy, fun outfit to pull off.
