Collaborative Post

You’re not alone if you feel overwhelmed and tired. Often mums get little free time during the day, especially if there is more than one child in the family. The feeling of exhaustion can also come from feelings of loneliness or changes to relationships with friends and family. Whatever the reason why you’re fatigued, here are some ways to take care of yourself so you won’t feel burnout.

1. Make a List

Write down the worries you have on a piece of paper. This activity is beneficial for many reasons. Firstly, you will get all those thoughts you’re trying to organise in your mind out onto the paper, thereby releasing them from your brain. You’ll likely feel lighter simply by releasing those thoughts!

Secondly, you’ll be able to see exactly what is weighing on your shoulders right there on that paper so that you can start to do something about it, such as finding birthday gifts for the kids. As you make your way through the list, including buying gifts, cross it out on the paper with a pen; you’ll find that you feel better each time you do so.

2. Create a Bedroom Sanctuary

The reality is that you need alone time, as well as a bedroom where you can fully relax. Then you are more likely to get deep sleep, as well as put your feet up to read or do a crossword puzzle.

For a more peaceful atmosphere in the bedroom, start by clearing out any clutter and organising your clothes, as well as drawers and underneath the bed. With custom built in wardrobes, you can finally enjoy having a functional closet with plenty of storage space. A tidy room will eliminate the stress you likely felt before when looking around the messy area.

3. Meditate

Even if you only have five minutes to do it, meditation can be helpful. It can reinvigorate your spirit. If you haven’t done this activity recently or ever before, a guided meditation is helpful; there are many apps and videos available that take you through the activity, keeping your mind off any worries. It can be an effective part of any mum’s self-care strategy.

4. Take a Walk

Aerobic activity isn’t only good for your body. It can also do wonders for your mind. Choose a form of exercise that you like, such as walking or running, and make a point to do so today. This time to yourself can improve your general mood, lower stress, and give you more energy too. If you have a little one, then why not head out for a walk with the stroller this afternoon?

Taking Care of YOU

When you care for yourself, then you have the energy to put toward the family. You deserve time to yourself, just like you want for your partner, kids, and friends.

Try one or more of the suggestions above to see if they are a good fit. When you find what feels good, then make the time for self-care regularly. You’ll likely find that you feel refreshed, and you might even sleep better than you were before too!
