Tips to Help you to Earn a Little Extra

Ad

I think we are all seeing the effects of increasing prices at the moment; it seems each time I buy something from the supermarkets the prices are creeping up. It can be hard to keep on top of household finances when prices seem to be constantly on the rise.

It would be lovely to have a salary increase in line with inflation, but for many that’s just not happening so instead, here are some tips for raising some extra pounds over the coming months.

Declutter and sell unwanted items

I’m sure that most of us could spend some time decluttering a room and finding things that we no longer want or need. Why not try selling these using Facebook marketplace or online auction sites? It’s worth being aware that some sites will charge a fee for selling items, but there are some that don’t make a charge. It’s well worth tackling a room and seeing what you have. I know when I have gone through my craft kits there’s been plenty there that I know I just won’t get time to do and so I have listed them in specialist Facebook groups and managed to sell them and make some extra cash.

You could also look for local table top sales and maybe you and a friend book a table together and sell any items. Book and children’s clothes bundles do well at things like these and you might even pick up a bargain too.

Share your Passion in Life

I see so many people setting up online shops or in-person events to sell the things they’re really passionate about. I know some people who design things to sell via platforms like Etsy, others who handmake items to sell. I have friends who have set up group fitness classes as they have a skill and knowledge in this area.

These can often, with word of mouth, lead to more and more earnings, and in turn, I know people who have been able to reduce their old jobs to spend more time on their hobby – a hobby that has turned into a fully-fledged business. It is important to be aware that when you’re earning from these sorts of jobs to register to submit a tax return. Even if you’re earning below the threshold to submit a tax return it is well worth investing in getting yourself the best bookkeeping services you can afford – there’s nothing worse than the headache of managing your books at tax return time.

Be a Savvy Shopper

There’s a lot to be said for savvy shopping; make the most of discount vouchers and online discount codes when shopping, especially for big purchases. It also pays to utilize cashback websites too when shopping online. These often offer either a flat amount or a percentage of the purchase price as cashback. These can take a little time to come through, but it all adds up over the course of a few months and can be a nice way to say a few pounds towards a break away.

Rising prices can be worrying, but hopefully, the steps mentioned above might help you to find a few extra pennies and also at the same time help to instil some financial know-how with your children.
