Having a child running around your home is terrifying because as soon as they learn to crawl, they’re exploring everything and anything that’s within reach. So it’s important to create a child-friendly home and here are some tips to get you started.
Have Lockable Cupboards
As kids love to roam about of their own free will when they learn that they can do so, nothing is safe from the grasp of a toddler or child. It may be handy to think about everything that they can see and reach. These will often be cupboards, and if you have chemicals or anything harmful within those cupboards, then it’s important to keep them locked. There are plenty of child-proofing options that you can purchase, should you need them. This will give you peace of mind and will deter you from having to rearrange all the contents of your cupboard, which sometimes might be difficult to do when your space is limited.
Rearrange Your Layout
The layout of your rooms might not be child-friendly, and that might be due to certain pieces of furniture being a tripping hazard or something that’s in the way and might cause harm to your child. In that regard, think about changing up the layout of your room to make it more functional. It might mean removing some items of furniture, but it might be the refreshment that your room to make it feel like new. Don’t forget to also baby-proof rooms by putting safety padding on the ends of sharp tables and decor. Cover Up The Plugs
Talking of little hands, they can be exploring every nook and cranny of your property, including the electronic sockets. Now unless they go sticking metal in there or approach it with wet objects, they’ll be fine. However, as we’re talking about children, it’s best to put some plug socket covers over the plugs themselves. These make it very difficult for any toddler or child to take off, and that also gives you some relief these won’t be an issue.
Install Safety Gates
You’re most likely to live in a property with at least one set of stairs. As a child, this is something that can be very difficult to manoeuvre, and until they’re old enough to walk and recognise danger, they need to be accompanied. However, you can’t always keep a constant eye on your child, and therefore, safety gates are a great way of keeping an eye on them because those safety gates are like Fort Knox. There’s no way they’ll be able to get it open.
