Keeping children entertained is a challenge most days but when the school holidays come about, here presents a whole new level of difficulty. Here are some things to do with your children over the school holidays.
Get Creative In The Kitchen
The kitchen is often one place that you actively keep your children out of, but it’s never too early to get your children involved in some baking. It’s a way of getting the creativity flowing and for your children to have a better relationship with the food they eat and knowing what goes into it. Keep it simple with the types of recipes you do and get them involved with the safer parts of the process, highlighting the dangers that only adults can do like chopping with knives or using the oven. By educating them, it’s going to mean they have much more of an understanding of how it all works for when they’re older. From there, you can get them more involved in contributing to making dinner for you and the rest of the household and taking it in turns. It’s a life skill that they’ll thank you for.
Have A TV & Pyjama Day
Sometimes a little unwinding and relaxing can be a perfect way to spend the day. It might be something that both you and the children need. And the best way to do that is by having a TV and pyjama day. You can get some of the latest movies and tv programmes from sites like troypoint.com, or you can introduce them to some of your favourite films that you liked to watch when you were young. It’s a bit of nostalgia for yourself then, and there are some films that are truly timeless. There’s also something to be said about spending the day in your pyjamas and not having to get dressed.
Spend Time Outdoors
Outside playtime is something that not every child today got to do as often as children a decade ago. That’s because of technology having such a strong influence and a sense of danger that might be lurking on the streets. However, it’s good for them to spend time outdoors so where it helps, try to get outside with them by taking them to the local park or just observing their playtime and making sure they’re not causing any trouble.

Make Playtime Something You Do Together
Playtime is more fun when adults get involved, especially if you only have one child, and they often spend it alone. Having this time together is important for your relationship, and it’s essential if you want to help it grow and flourish as they get older. It’s good to encourage story-telling too for whatever they then end up doing later on in life.
There are plenty of things that are worth doing with your children over the holidays, so try to get a list together so that you can refer back to it when needed. Spend lots of time with them where you can and encourage time away from technology too.
