Getting Crafty with Love Crafts

Ad

You might have spotted that over the last five/six weeks I have been working on a cross stitched item for Em’s birthday. She has asked me a few months back to stitch something for her, so it seemed like a good plan to set myself a deadline of her birthday to get this done! I can certainly say it gave me a bit of a reminder for how much I enjoy stitching things.

The team at LoveCrafts.com got in touch to ask me if I’d like to try out some of the craft items that they sell and I thought it would be a good excuse to get myself a new project! You can read on to secure yourself a 20% discount from their website too.

What is LoveCrafts.com

Love Crafts is home for all your crafty needs! I am more of a stitcher than a knitter, and despite my attempts at crochet, it isn’t a craft that I have much luck with! I do find stitching to be quite relaxing and I am keen to try some embroidery too this year.

Love Crafts has all manner of items for your crafty needs, from kits and hoops and frames, to yarn and fabric. There’s also a section packed full of ideas and free charts to help get you started. There are also regular offers available with discounts on a range of items.

Why Crafting Is Good

I’ve written before about enjoying crafting and whilst I’m not always the best at it, I think there is something to be said for ‘having a go’. I am glad that the children are keen to make things and this year all three have enjoyed making fabric bookmarks and the older two have some hand sewing kits that they want to do. They see me crafting and making things and they enjoy watching as my work takes shape. Em has asked me if I’ll make a narwhal embroidery that she spotted on the site so that has been added to my to-do ‘project list’.

Crafting is a really good outlet and there are so many different things to try your hand at. Knitting and crochet is one or you could try needlework as I do. I’m going to give needle felting a try soon, as I have a couple of kits from Christmas time that my parents bought for me.

There is all manner of research which suggests that crafting is great for our mental well being, and I find that it helps my attentiveness a lot. In the evenings it is all too easy to binge-watch the TV, especially when the weather is as miserable as it has been in recent weeks. Have a project on the go gives me something else to do; often with the radio or TV on in the background. It’s also really great for meeting people – it’s a conversation starter when people spot something you’ve made and there are so many craft and chat groups around.  You could even start your own craft group or even organised a crafty swap of kits and items you might no longer require.

Finding Time to Craft

I don’t have oodles of time these days to indulge my crafty ways, but I do try and find moments in the week to spend some time working on something. I’ve started this hummingbird hoop that Love Crafts kindly gifted to me, and I hope to have it finished in a week or two. Then I have a Puffin picture to do and I may use my discount code to treat myself to another kit from the Love Crafts site.

Having a kit makes it much easier as everything is supplied for you from the fabric to the needle and the threads are pre-sorted which is always helpful! Having kits saves me so much time and means I can just pick it up without having to make sure I have the correct fabrics, threads etc.
