I haven’t purchased a Cotton & Twine monthly subscription box for a while, but when I saw that the April box was a collaboration with Velvet Pony I knew I couldn’t resist. It was such a good companion piece to the Stitch Along I did some time ago that I knew I’d enjoy stitching this one. I adore the Cotton & Twine monthly boxes but have tried to be ‘good’ and not purchase too many over the last 12 months whilst I work through some other kits I have. I find them great for mindfulness and they’re usually not too taxing to work on and always beautifully designed.
Instead of ordering the full box I opted for just the kit and I was thrilled that there is now an option to scan a QR code to get a PDF version of the pattern to load in Pattern Keeper (this is superb and really helped me keep track of where I was up to).
I have been working on and off on this over a week or two and this weekend, whilst the children were away on a Scout camp, I managed to finish the project.
I am thrilled with how it turned out and it’s not framed, awaiting a space on the wall. I purchased the frame from the Range and have a couple that are the same with various projects in. This really was a lovely project to work on and the colours are just so bright and vibrant. This stitched up fairly quickly and I liked seeing where others were up to with the project via Instagram. It always interests me seeing what order people stitch in, be it starting in the middle or at a top or bottom edge. Whether people complete each motif one by one or if they stitch by colour. I tended to choose a colour and then work my way on that for a bit before choosing another colour that took my eye. Once I was at around 70% complete I started focusing on finishing each motif and moving round that way.
The Cotton & Twice monthly kits are fab and there are no options to just receive a PDF chart, the kit or the gift box. You can also choose between linen and Aida. I opted for aida for this stitch but the May design (Cheeky Seagulls) I have opted for the linen. The patterns are always really well done and easy to follow and there’s always more than enough floss to stitch with – so no fear of running out!
