How wonderful it feels to finally have the summer weather here! I have been enjoying getting out and about more and starting to feel more like the world is opening back up. It’s amazing how much better life can feel when the sun is shining away.
It’s been lovely over the last few weeks to get back to doing things that make me feel more like me; the things that help to elevate my mood and generally feel much more positive and energized. It’s been great to get back to the gym and work on getting fitter and healthier as well as remembering all the things I enjoy about pushing myself to work harder and lift heavier.
It has been a welcome relief that the gyms and swimming pools are open again now, and I have really been enjoying getting back into swimming. It’s such a simple thing but it’s been great for my sanity and, despite the pre 6am wake ups, it’s been brilliant. I am sleeping better and hopefully over the next few weeks I’ll notice the dropping of a few lockdown poundds.
I’ve treated myself to a new swimming costume as well as some loose jogging bottoms for when I get out of the pool. I hate trying to wrestle my legs into a pair of jeans post swim – no matter what I do I can never quite manage to get my skin dry enough to get jeans on! I find jogging bottoms much easier and these super soft loungewear bottoms really are the perfect solution for slipping on after a swimming pool visit. In fact, I have a few colours including black and grey loungewear, so I will always have a fresh pair to hand!
I’ve also really enjoyed being able to visit the beach now the warmer days are here, and these really cute blush pink shorts were the perfect accompaniment to my trip – they’re high waisted and very flattering as well as being the perfect beachwear attire. There’s something refreshing and invigorating about walking along the beach and I look forward to our next couple of planned family beach visits – it really is a great way to blow away the cobwebs.
For those evening strolls when the sun is starting to dip and the evening air is cooling, I really like this lovely co-ord set. The belted top looks really nice over the shorts above, or with the trousers. It’s a great way to protect yourself as the air starts to cool and can be made dressy with a pair of heels and a pendant for those evening meals out or a date night stroll by the sea. It looks really classy and is super comfortable and light to wear – for me it is the perfect summer attire.
We are hoping to get a couple of short breaks away in the latter half of the year and having these great co-ord sets really makes packing super easy – getting a black or grey base and then adding some colour in like the beautiful blue set below, really makes packing a breeze. I know that I can mix and match my outfits and plan for evening drinks in a bar or for a picnic in the park with the children. Plus, as the items are lightweight they don’t take up a great deal of space in the suitcase which means I can take a few extra ‘just in case’ outfits without having to force anything in! Perfect especially given how unpredictable the UK weather can be and I’ll take the excuse to treat myself to a few ‘holiday essentials!’
