On Wednesday this week the children and I had a wander – well I did whilst they played on their bikes.
Whilst we were out we collected lots of leaves – all different colours and shade and very pretty. I wasn’t entirely sure what we do with them, then that evening I spotted a hedgehog snuffling along and thought it might be a good idea to (attempt to) make a leaf hedgehog.
I popped over to Twinkl and they had a hedgehog outline (complete with instructions too). I printed a few copies off and we set about sticking leaves to them.
It was interesting to watch how both Mr D and Miss E approached this in different ways. Miss E set about snipping the stalks off each of the leaves and sticking those onto the hedghog, where Mr D set about cutting up the leaves and sticking those on.
I liked doing this activity with them as it allowed Mr H to get in on the action too. He had his own template complete with leaves and crayons. He wasn’t keen on glueing and sticking, but did have fun colouring in his hedgehog.
This was a really easy craft to do and one that looks quite good too. It had all three children really engaged for a good while too.
