3 Holiday Ideas That Can Help Spark Kids’ Imaginations

*Collaborative Post

In many ways, holidays are all about relaxation – taking the chance to step back from everyday life, free from your usual responsibilities, and focus on having a great time with your family. However, many parents also seek vacations that offer a little something “extra”; a special benefit that combines with a focus on relaxation in order to provide a truly well-rounded getaway.

If you’re currently in the midst of planning your next family trip, then you may too be hoping to find experiences that can add a little extra oomph to your time away. You could focus on fitness, on learning, or perhaps most excitingly of all, on ideas that help to spark your children’s imagination. If the latter idea appeals to you, then here’s four ideas you might want to try…

1 – Take a trip to NYC to see a Broadway show

The majority of the media that modern kids consume is via a screen rather than in person, so taking a trip to see one of the many outstanding Broadway shows is a great way of offering a completely different experience. New York is a fantastic city to visit anyway, but the fact that your kids can see some of the best stage players in the world, performing some of the most beloved stories the world has ever known, live and in person is a great way to inspire your children’s imaginations and provide an experience that they will never forget.

2 – Visit an observatory that showcases a different sky in Auckland

Astronomy is a great way to encourage your children’s imagination at the best of times; there is something about directly observing the wonders of the universe that never fails to inspire awe and appreciation. However, you can add an extra dimension to the benefits of astronomy by taking a trip to a part of the world that offers a different sky: the southern hemisphere. Auckland is a particularly great choice in this regard, as it is home to the impressive Stardome Observatory Planetarium, which offers a wide range of shows and exhibits that your children are sure to love. In addition, holidaying in Auckland means you’ll also be within two hours of the Coromandel Forest Park, an attraction that is relatively free of light pollution and offers incredible views of the night sky as a result.

3 – Relive the past in London

There are older cities in the world, but when it comes to making the most of a long history, London does it better than most. Your kids will be able to visit a range of different castles (including the infamous Tower of London), visit historic attractions, and truly immerse themselves in a city that has perfected the art of telling its story to the benefit of children. As your children enjoy the sites and exhibits, they will have the opportunity to imagine what life was like in the past and what it might have been like to live in London at different points in history.

In conclusion

All three of the above holiday ideas offer opportunities to enthral your children in a variety of new and different ways – and whichever you choose, you can sure your entire family will benefit from the experience.
