Hello and Happy Easter! Today is of course Easter Sunday but our week started with me being full of a cold – sure I caught it from one of the children! It ended with the cold landing with Damian, but we all seem to all be more or less over things now. The weather has been fantastic for the Bank Holiday and we have been making the most of it!
What I have read
This week I’ve continued reading American Wife and am almost finished – I’ll have it finished tomorrow I expect. Audio book wise I am still listening to my audiobook, Somewhere Beyond the Sea and it’s an easy listen. It’s a little predictable but still… easy to listen to as I run. I would be further on but this week I listened to my brother on the Blue Moon podcast during my long run,

Where we have been
This week we have made the most of the weather. On Good Friday the children and I headed out early for a walk at Etherow Park. I love it there and the children had a great time running. climbing and of course, feeding the ducks. We covered a couple of miles and were out for around two hours – perfect before it got too hot and too busy.
The most notable thing last week was I took Daniel along to the Etihad to watch Manchester City v Tottenham in the Champions League Quarter Final. He is a big Harry Kane fan and loves Sergio Aguero so when they were drawn against each other it seemed the perfect opportunity. Sadly, Kane was injured so he didn’t get to see him and the result didn’t quite pan out as we hoped, but he loved it and it was an experience he will remember for a long long time.

If you know us in real life then you will know that, since the world cup, Daniel has loved all things football…. Much to his dad's disgust, he is following the blue half of Manchester. When the draw was made for the Champions League quarter final against Spurs I knew it would be a great opportunity for him to see his heroes, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero play. Sadly Kane was injured but we did get to see an amazing game this evening! He loved it and I'm sure he will be reliving it all again tomorrow!
This week has been the first week of attempting to follow a proper half marathon plan. I had to mix the days up a bit due to the bank holiday throwing out the usual routines, but I covered the distances I was planning to.
On Friday night it was a 12km run – I did 12.27km, so just a little over. I felt comfortable until around 8km when I hit another hill and found it a struggle to get going again. It was quite an undulating route (the joy of living where we do!) but I got the 12km in. I was pleased given it had been a warm day and it was an evening run so the end of the day when I’m generally less energetic. Next week I’ve got two shorter runs planned in then will aim for another 12km – I might do the same route and see how I get on. I need to get faster !
If I cover the miles as per the plan this week then I’ll hit my 50 mile Race at Your Pace target comfortably.
