Winter Car Care & Tips to Order new Tyres online

*Ad

As we move into the winter (how on earth are we almost into December!?!) it’s time to think of all the sensible things that need doing. If you’re anything like me then there’s the pre-Christmas sort out to do of books and toys (I like to offer our things to others on Facebook and have benefited from others passing on their no longer needed items).

It’s also the time of year when I start to run the freezer down; to free up space for the extra food for hosting over the Christmas period. Thankfully it’s not too bad and we’ve had a few meals sorted this week already. Then, of course, it’s time for a clean around of the house, moving furniture to accommodate the tree and other decorations and generally having a tidy around.

The final thing to do is to check your car is all sorted too. This time of year sees us making more trips than usual, and driving at night time and in less than perfect weather. It makes sense to check over the car now so that any issues can be sorted before they become big problems. Our car isn’t quite ready for changing yet so it’s important that we keep it performing well before we look to sell it in the next 18 months.

Checking over the Lights

Lights are so important at this time of year! Check that they’re all working, so reverse, brake and driving lights as well as the indicators. It’s usually pretty easy in most cars to replace the light bulbs if they have blown and a new light can be picked up for a couple of pounds. It’s also worth making sure you know how to operate the lights!

Tyre care

Tyres are so important to check over and only takes a few minutes to do so. Make sure your tyres are inflated properly and that they have the right amount of tread depth left. It’s so important to do this for lots of reasons. Making sure the tyres are inflated correctly cuts down on fuel consumption (good for your pocket and better for the environment) and ensures that the car is running as well as it can do. If you do need tyres it’s super easy to do it online.

If you need replacement tyres that you can simply order tyres online to get them fitted from Jet Wheel Tyre and they make it super easy and convenient to order your tyres, and importantly make sure you order the correct ones. It’s tempting to buy part worn or cheaper versions of the tyres, but you have to bear in mind that the tyres are the things that make contact with the road, and you probably spent a reasonable amount on the car so it makes sense to spend on the important parts when you’re maintaining the car.

When ordering online, sites like Jet Wheel Tyre will prompt you to enter your registration number. It will then provide you with details of the size of the tyres you need. It is worth double-checking this information (you can find the tyre size written on the side of your tyres). You select the tyre you wish to replace (front or rear) and you’re presented with a number of options for the tyre. Select the one you want then you move through to booking the vehicle in to have the tyre replaced. The whole process takes only five minutes and then all you need to do is take your car to have the tyre fitted.

A lot of tyre suppliers will also deal with disposing of your used tyres, which means that you can be assured that they’re not being dumped somewhere they shouldn’t be.

Keeping the car stocked up

It’s worth making sure you have a scraper for de-icing the car, extra washer bottle fluid for long journeys and also blankets. We always have blankets in the car just in case we find ourselves broken down, or if the children end up getting soaking wet one day I can strip them down and cover them with blankets. If you’re making longer trips to visit family then make sure you have drinks and the such. Plus I find this time of year a good excuse to clear out all the sticks and bits and pieces we have inevitably gathered over the summer!
