What If You Have Trouble Finding A Buyer For Your Home?

Collaborative Post

Whether you’re moving because you have a new baby on the way or you’re moving to new opportunities or for whatever reason, you might have to figure out what to do with the old house first. Perhaps it has been on the market for a while, but it’s still not budging. If you’re having trouble finding a buyer, then the tips below might be able to help you get it shifted.

Consider changing your agent

If your home simply isn’t getting any interest, then you’re going to need the help of an estate agent. If it’s still not happening, then you should choose a different estate agent. A good estate agent will know the area and will regularly get in contact about ways they can market the property, and what progress they’re making on viewings and potential sales. If your estate agent doesn’t communicate their plan with you, then get in touch with them. If it sounds like they haven’t made much effort to sell the home at all, then it may be time to look for a new agent or even going with a multi-agency agreement.

Spruce it up a little

Hanging a sign outside the home can catch some attention, but if your home looks drab and messy from the outside, people aren’t going to want to take a closer look. Make a few improvements for the sake of your kerb appeal, tidying the garden being the number one concern. If you’re getting a viewing, be sure to prepare by decluttering the home and making it presentable. You don’t have to make it look totally un-lived in, but you don’t want it to look messy either.

There are always buyers if you know where to find them

The private market might not always be in your favour. People may simply not be in much of a house buying mood. However, there are property investment companies and landlords always willing to buy. If you’re looking to sell house fast, then a property buying company might be just the buyer you need. They might not pay as much as you would get in a bidding war between two private buyers, but if that isn’t an option, you may want to consider them.

Change the asking price

If you’re not willing to go with a quick sale, then you may have to reconsider how much you’re asking, especially if you’re getting some interest from a buyer or two. Getting the price of the property right is crucial. Do your research to find out what homes in your area have sold for, and get some advice on what price you should be asking for your home from at least two travel agents. If it’s simply not selling, then you may need to lower your expectations and lower the asking price.

Trying to sell a home that just won’t budge can be pretty stressful. However, with the tips above, you can stay calm, collected, and know that there are always options, even when it seems like that might not be the case.
