Setting Up your Own Business

Ad

The online world offers a wealth of ways in which you can earn an income. I have managed to set up my blogging business which brings in an amount each month that covers the children’s activities and groups. I have friends who have a range of direct selling business ranging from Premium Organic Skincare to children’s books. What I love about the explosion in the online world is that it allows people to work in a myriad of ways to suit their own set ups and needs. It means, for me, that when I return to being an employee I still have entries on my CV which show I have been working away during the years I have been raising my children. It also gives me a bit of my world that is for me, and tests my mind in different ways.

Here are my tips for setting up your own business (online or physical)

Do what you love!

It might sound obvious but if you’re going to be setting up your own business then make it something you enjoy doing – don’t focus on the money initially, look for opportunities that align with you passions. If you love books look at establishing a book shop. You could create a book subscription service, creat book based activity packs or look for ways in which you can review books. There’s always an opportunity.

Do your research

When you have decided what area you want to focus on, spend some time doing some research. See what you competitors are doing, is there a gap in the market you can fill? Who are your potential customers – what do they want and need and how will you reach them? Think about whether you want a physical shop or an online shop – or even a pop-up shop at local market events. Taking the time to do your research and understand who your customer is and what they want from your business.

Create your branding

Branding is key. What name do you want – make sure to choose something that is easy to remember and conveys what your business is about. Once you have the name then buy the domain! Even if you don’t plan to set up a website initially, check to see if the domain is available and buy it. It is well worth the small outlay and provides you with options in the future to provide an online presence. Once you have your website decide if you’re going to sell via the site, or simply have it as an informational site. Look at sites that have a good clear layout, sites like https://legioncompressionsocks.com/collections/20-30-mmhg.    work well as the name makes it clear what it sells, the layout is clean and fresh and it’s super easy to find what you need.

Choose your branding wisely and replicate it across all your materials, emails, website and labels should all work together to create a cohesive whole for your business. Then if you’re looking to get help with content marketing Rex Originals can help with that, anything from SEO to content writing. All the tricky stuff they can do and let you get on with the bits your enjoy!

Taking payments

There’s nothing more exciting than the first time you make money from your business. If it’s a business like mine then make sure you have your online payment accounts set up and invoice templates ready to use. You’ll also need to have an accounts spreadsheet to help track your income and outgoings. If you’re selling online that taking time to understand the different payment options and methods is key. There’s a wide range of options, https://www.northamericanbancard.com/ is just one option.

Have fun!

And finally, remember to have fun! Always keep in mind the reasons why you set up this business and remember what your aim was. It is useful to review things every quarter to make sure your profits are there and how they should be but also make sure your business is still in line with your original vision.
