Collaborative Post

If you are teaching your children from home then it is likely you could be relying on a laptop or PC to access the work and teach them what they need to learn. If this is the case then the last thing you want is for the PC to go down and stop working, there is a way to make this less likely by maintaining your PC and making sure to keep it healthy.

Unless you have studied computer science or you fix PCs for a living then you may struggle to know how best to maintain a PC and keep it in working order. If this is the case then these tips should help to give you an idea of what you can do to keep your PC running and make sure it stays healthy to keep your children studying hard.

Back up your data

Whenever you have a PC or laptop you should always set up for the PC to back up automatically. This will make sure all your data is secure should you need to reset the PC at any time, it will allow you to restore it from your previous backup and it will have everything you backed up still on your PC. this should be set up from the very start or as soon as possible as issues can strike even in new PCs so it is important to make sure you do not lose all your data.

Keep it up to date

Making sure you update your computer is very important, not only to keep it running smoothly but also for security. Most of the time no matter if it is windows or Mac you may have security updates coming through and if they get out of date that can be a big risk for your data. If a hacker has breached a certain security software then the OS supplier of your computer will drop a new update they have not hacked, this is why it is important to stay up to date. An up-to-date computer also runs much smoother and with an out-of-date PC, you may not have access to certain apps or software that is not compatible with your out-of-date software.

Clean your PC

When you are using a PC and downloading things a lot then temporary files and unwanted files can be kept on your PC. This can take up your storage and make your PC run slower than normal and some functionality may be lost. For windows, you can get a PC cleaner that will do this automatically or you can go in manually and delete unwanted files and stored pictures etc. If you have a Mac book or Apple PC then it can be harder to do this but there is some software called clean my mac that can help to tidy up your computer and stop any unwanted downtime.

If you are teaching your children from home and relying heavily on a computer or laptop, and you are unsure how to make sure it stays up and running. Then these few tips should help you to keep your PC maintained and running smoothly.
