Over the weekend Mr D, Miss E and I made some bottle rockets. This is a really simple craft to do and one that is great for pre-schoolers as they can do much of it independently.
For this activity you will need (affiliate links):
- Empty plastic bottle
- Cards
- Coloured tissue paper
- Foam shapes
- Space themed stickers
- PVA glue
We first washed out the bottle and left them to dry completely. We then covered the bottle in PVA glue (which the children thought was lots of fun!) and then wrapped a piece of tissue paper around it. We left the bottle to dry for a while then once it was all dry we added decorations to our bottle rockets.
I then cut out wing shapes from the cardstock and glued them onto the sides (I added some sellotape too as the wings were quite large on our bottle rockets).
This was a really effective craft and the children, Mr D in particular, has had great fun zooming his rocket around the house.
Some ways to extend this activity include:
- Take a look at some space themed books
- Set up a space themed play scene and make aliens
- Make play-doh aliens
