As I wrote, a few weeks ago, we have been using the Pawprint badges to focus our work this autumn. This time of year is packed with festivals and the such which means there is so much to learn about. In-between the general work we do day to day, these badges help us to work on longer projects.
We have been looking at the Autumn badge the last couple of weeks and, in truth, this will continue on for a week or so but I thought it was useful to share there the things that we have done as part of this badge.
We had already completed a few things towards the Harvest badge, and a lot of these could also count towards autumn. But some other things we did included:
- Pumpkin carvig
- Halloween costume design
- Making smores
- Collecting leaves (leaves from different trees for the older two and different colours leaves for H)
- Collecting conkers and acorns
- Playing an autumn quiz via zoom with friends
- Sharing some autumn poems via zoom
- Making leaf lanterns (this is definitely one for older children)
- Autumn wordsearches
- Autumn themed maths
- Plenty of autumn walks
- Learning about animals that hibernate
We have enjoyed learning about autumn and it is a wonderful time of year to get out and about to explore and spot the changes in the season.
When we organise the work the children have done we gather it all together into a folder to keep it in one place. As we have been covering this over a month or two I also used a few printables from various sites.
The ones the children particulalry enjoyed were:

As we near the ending of a project I get the children to reflect on all the things that we have done. I do this as it’s a good prompt to get them to write, and it helps me to see which activities have stuck in their minds; what they have enjoyed the most. It also helps me to check their understanding of the work they have been doing.
