Everyone is struggling to a greater or lesser degree with what has been going on in the past year. It has indeed been a very strange year, and it’s one that none of us is going to forget any time soon. But some people do tend to struggle a lot more than others, for a variety of reasons, and for those people it is especially important to ensure that they know what to do about it. If you are one of them, or you know them and you want to know how to help, then read on. In this guide, we’ll go through some of the best things we can all do to make things easier for ourselves and those around us.
Schedule Regular Calls
In order to better keep in touch with the people who matter in your life, why not simply make a point of scheduling some regular calls? This doesn’t have to be a video call if you don’t want it to be, although some people enjoy those of course. Just a normal phone call, once a week or once a fortnight, can make a huge difference to how you and your loved ones feel during this strange time. Having a scheduled chat can mean that everyone in your life feels so much more in touch with one another, and that is a hugely important part of being happy during the pandemic.
Ask For Help If Necessary
Many people need help from time to time when things get particularly tough. If you think you might need some help with anything, whether it is something to do with your mental health or a daily task that you need assistance with, make sure that you ask for help as and when you might need to. This is an important aspect of self-care, and it could be all you really need to do in order to make dealing with lockdown considerably easier and simpler for yourself. Some people such as students in lockdown might find this to be particularly important.

Focus On The Positives
Although it is indeed a very difficult time in so many ways, there are also a lot of good things still left in life which you can focus on, and making a point of paying attention to those things is definitely going to help you out a lot. Whatever it might be that you can find in your life, you should make sure that you are seeking it out, and focusing on it as much as possible. This can make a surprising difference to how you feel in general, and you might find that you are going to be much happier and more able to deal with what is going on if you take on board this simple mental tool.
Dealing With Loneliness
Probably one of the most difficult elements of all of this for most of us, and especially for people who are having a particularly hard time, is trying to deal with the loneliness of it all. If you are feeling very lonely at the moment during the lockdown, there are a lot of things that you might want to do in order to try and overcome that. For one thing, you can think about having socially distanced meetings with people. This can be a very effective way of overcoming most of the loneliness that you might be feeling. Or you could simply make a point of having big group video calls, or making use of social media. All of these simple steps can make a huge difference in the long run.
Keep Active
Keeping active is important at the best of times, and it’s especially wise if you are hoping to try and look after yourself as well as possible at the moment during the lockdown. By keeping active, you are keeping your physical and mental health in check, getting outside in a safe manner, and generally boosting your mood and energy levels too. There are a lot of ways to do this, whether it’s a simple run around the park or even just setting up a small home gym with a few weights and so on. However you do it, keeping active is going to be an important part of looking after yourself during lockdown, and you will feel the effects of it beyond lockdown too.
These are just some simple things you can do to deal better with lockdown, so make sure that you are focusing on these if you want to fare better.
