Around this time of year, I start to plan what our Christmas celebrations might look like. The last couple of years we have gone on a home ed organised trip to see a theatre show, but this year I couldn’t make the arranged date. I have been looking around for something else to go and see and was delighted to be invited to see Mr Popper’s Penguins at Sale Waterside at the end of November.
It looks fantastic and is based on the book by Richard and Florence Atwater (which we haven’t read but a copy will be arriving for Daniel’s birthday in a few weeks). I’m really looking forward to it as I’ve seen bits of the film adaptation and it looks like the sort of thing all three children will enjoy!
If you’re unfamiliar with the story of Mr Popper’s Penguins, then you’re in for a real treat. Mr Popper is a painter and decorator by often dreams instead of adventures in Antarctica. One day a crate arrives and, inside, Mr Popper finds a penguin!
I’m sure you can imagine the fun and mischief that might happen with a penguin and I’m looking forward to seeing this musical adaptation on the stage. Who doesn’t love penguins and the puppets look fantastic!
