Last week we put our Christmas tree up and it’s safe to say that Mr D and Miss E were beside themselves with excitement. They had been asking and asking and asking when our tree would go up so when they finally got to do it they were so please. Miss E even decided to wear her Christmas party dress for the occasion!
Damian quite likes to get a real tree and this year we opted for a rather large 7 foot tree – we are lucky that we have a bay window and tall ceilings so we can get away with a larger tree – and it does look very festive.
We dug out the various decorations and the children set about putting them on the tree – Miss E ran off to get her dress that she was kindly sent by the team at House of Fraser. I tend to dress her in quite practical clothes that allow her to move around, let her climb and run without being impeded by layers of fabric. That said in recent months she has become interested in wearing dresses and couldn’t wait to get her special party dress on. The dress itself is completely impractical, but then all the best dresses are, as it is white and Miss E being Miss E will, no doubt, get food all over it during the Christmas Eve party we have planned. However she will enjoy wearing it and twirling in it and showing it off, and that is fine by me.
Now our tree is up we have added a few other decorations around the house – the children insisted on tinsel so we have plenty of tinsel up – much to Damian’s disgust. But, we want the children to remember the fun of decorating the house over Christmas so along with the various bits and pieces from our Adventivity House book and the newly acquired Christmas signs and decorations, it’s now beginning to feel very festive at the Let Them Be Small house.
