I was approached by the team at Chicago Town a few weeks ago asking me if we’d like to take a look at their new range of pizzas.
I must admit I wasn’t a big fan of Chicago Town pizzas. In the past I’ve found them a bit heavy but I have to say I am impressed with the new range. I usually have a few things in the freezer for those ‘lazy’ evenings when you want to sort something quick. After a day when we had been quite busy and it was just the children and I eating as Damian was out I thought we would try the Pizza subs. We had the cheese and tomato one which was really lovely and the bread stayed nice and crisp. In the past I’ve thought the pizzas could be a bit over laden with toppings which gave way to that heavy feeling. The children enjoyed them too and I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty they were – I’ve since bought more to store in the freezer for future use.
Another evening when were eating later than normal Damian tried the pepperoni pizza melt. This is a sort of burger bun cut in half with the pizza on each side. You’re then supposed to sandwich it together once cooked and it all melts in. Damian opted to eat his separated as he was having it with chips rather than a snack but this would be a great lunchtime snack. Damian said that it tasted nice and not how he had expected it to.
Finally, the classic deep dish pizzas…. these are the Chicago Town pizzas I recall. I didn’t manage to pick up a vegetarian one for me, but the children have had the Sloppy Joe one and enjoyed it so they must be OK as they can be a but fussy with pizzas.
I’ve found that these pizzas are a good addition for barbecues too. We have had a couple of barbecues recently and it’s been nice to have these smaller pizzas to add to the food. A full size pizza is too much as there is other food, but these are nice to serve up for a small taste before the main event of the barbecue.
I was really pleasantly surprised with the Chicago Town pizzas, especially the new range of Pizza Subs and they’ll be a regular in my freezer for those night when you want something that is tasty but quick to prepare.
