It’s February now which seems crazy, and already the diary is beginning to fill up with commitments and things to do! January seems to have flown by and the magic of Christmas is but a distant memory.
I’ve found this week a bit mixed up – I’ve had a few things on my mind and I usually find running or going to the gym helps to distract me, but that’s not worked this week and the icy weather has put paid to any outdoor running.
What I have read
This week we went to the library to return our books. I got out The Single Mums’ Mansion which I have started a book that’s been on my kindle for a while called Julia Gets a Life. I’ve not read too much this week, and I feel like I really should have done more reading to help distract me more.
I’ve been reading blogs again this week and enjoyed this post where I learnt a little more about Simone, a blogger I’ve followed on and off for a little while now.
I’ve also downloaded some audio books for when I am in the gym and out running, I’m currently listening to Billy and Me by Giovanni Fletcher – it’s proving a useful distraction when out on the roads.
So, my book count hasn’t increased as yet, but I think I’ll get at least one of the current reads finished this week.
Total books read this month: 3
Where we have been
This week has been a really fun week for getting out. On Wednesday we woke up to thick snow so the children were keen to get outside to play, which we did quite early!
It was also the same day that I had arranged to take Emma ice skating. So my Dad collected Daniel to take him to the National Football Museum, and I dropped Harry off with my mum before Emma and I headed to the ice rink.
I think all three of them enjoyed their time and I know Emma enjoyed the ice skating! Despite it being a lot colder than she had anticipated it would be.
On Friday we had our regular speaking and listening group which I was due to host, but I had to duck out of due to Damian workig from home to meet someone about some work we require doing in the house. A friend stepped in to host it and we all had a wonderful time listening to the children’s projects about dinosaurs. I always enjoy this little group and it’s fantastic to see the children growing in confidence each time we meet.
This week has been slow for running. We have had a few house issues which meant my Sunday run didn’t happen, then with the snow and ice I’ve just not managed to get out. I did manage a run this morning (not a Park Run as the local one was cancelled due ot the icy conditions) so my February miles are up and off. I’ve joined in with Race at Your Pace again and set myself another 50 mile target, which I think will be a tougher ask as the weather is usually quite bad in February. I found my run hard going this morning and I didn’t manage to get my breathing right at all as it was so cold.
Miles Completed this week: 3.16
Miles completed this month: 3.16
Miles left to target: 46.84
