Last year Daniel had just turned one so we didn’t really get him a great deal of stuff for Christmas, he had so much already from his birthday that we wanted to see what he was most enjoying.
With that in mind I thought it might be useful to share our toddler approved gifts.
This year we have bought Daniel and Emma a play kitchen. I picked up one from a charity shop as it is in excellent condition and looks brand new. Had I not spotted this bargain then I would have been buying one like this from a company called Kids Play Kit. I spotted these in my twitter timeline a few weeks ago and I love their stuff. Even better they have free next day delivery! I adore the washing machine too that they sell, and wooden toys like this always last really well. We bought Daniel a wooden market stall for his birthday which is already well loved.
Any good play kitchen or market stall needs food to go with it! We have some of the Tidlo wooden food and these are great. I have a few more sets on Daniel and Emma’s wish lists so I am hoping some of those arrive on Santa’s sleigh. We have Eggs and Dairy set and I am hoping that we get some of the Meat and Fish and fruit as both Daniel and Emma love playing with the bits we already have.
Last year we bought Daniel this wooden easel. It has been well used and loved. What I love about it is that it is height adjustable so that it will grow as Daniel and Emma do. It is magnetic on one side and we bought some animal and alphabet magnets to go with it which are still in fantastic condition. It really is a great item that has been really good for Daniel in terms of mark making with chalk on the blackboard side, and learning animals with his animal magnets. It is a little pricier than some others out there but it is height adjustable and very colourful which I liked.
Other bits and pieces that have proven popular include this Playmobil Ark, these Melissa & Doug Chunky Puzzle are great. The pieces are perfect for small children to handle and Emma loves these. They are also great for other crafts too.
Other items that I have always appreciated being bought for Emma and Daniel includes sticker books (I like the Little Tiger Press and Usborne ones) craft items and Playdoh stuff. Always handy to have and always gets used.
If you’re still searching for stocking fillers for kids then you could always try the stocking fillers site. I came across this when I googled ‘stocking fillers’ when thinking about writing this post. I’m not really into separating things into for girls and for boys, but there are lots of neat ideas on here to suit any budget.
What are your top toddler approved gifts? What else should I be looking for to add to our toy room?
*I haven’t recieved any compensation for anything in this post. These are all items that Daniel and Emma have loved, or are things I think they would enjoy*
